The keys to my background can be found in both Sweden and the US. After completing studies at the University of Pennsylvania in 1964, I worked as a teacher and then for nearly 20 years in the adult literacy field in the US.

I was active in the American-Swedish cultural life, primarily at the American-Swedish Historical Museum (ASHF) in Philadelphia and later in smaller groups when I lived in Syracuse, NY and Chattanooga, TN.

In 1986 I moved back to Sweden and began working as a free-lance and employee translator. In 1992 I set up our present company H.E.S. Konsult AB with my life partner Gisela. The services of our translation division Transförlag include translation from Swedish into English and arranging translation between nearly any language pair desired. I have also become involved in the Swedish Association for Professional Translators (SFÖ), serving on their board and presenting various papers at national and international conferences.

As a way of getting to know the Swedish society I born to, but had left with my family in 1953, I became active in local politics in Lerum where we live.
